Cultural Events
GROUP DANCE
This event invites teams to showcase their talents in the form of classical or folk dance not limited to India as well as any form of western dance. Enthral the audience and capture the judges with your own signature styles also. Teams may even present a combination of dance forms.
RULES -
- There should be only 1 team per university.
- The maximum duration of the dance must be 6+ 1 minutes (including entry-exit time) and minimum duration must be 3 + 1 minutes.
- The maximum number of participants per team is 10 while the minimum number of participants must be 4.
- There is no specific theme for the dance. However, concept-based dances are preferred.
- The basic judging criteria are as follows - choreography, concept, costume, use of stage space and props (if any), stage presence and overall impact.
- Music needs to be brought on a pen-drive in mp3 format. Use of live music shall not be permitted.
- No hazardous props to be used.
- The decision of the judges will be final and binding.
WESTERN VOCALS (SOLO)
This event invites teams to showcase their talents in any form of western music. Enthral the audience and capture the judges with your own signature style.
RULES –
- The soloist may perform any English song.
- It can be a single or medley of songs.
- Each participant can have 1 accompanist only.
- The performance time allotted per team would be 3 minutes.
- The set up time is fixed at 2 minutes and is not inclusive of the performance time given to each team.
- Pre-recorded music will be allowed so long as the track entails the use of only one instrument.
- The decision of the judges is final and binding.
EASTERN VOCALS (SOLO)
This event invites teams to showcase their talents in any form of eastern music. Enthral the audience and capture the judges with your own signature style.
RULES –
- The soloist may perform any classical or non-classical song in any Indian language.
- The participant may perform a single or a medley of songs.
- Each participant can have 1 accompanist only.
- The performance time allotted per team would be 3 minutes.
- The set up time for each team is fixed at 2 minutes which not inclusive of the performance time given to each team.
- Pre - recorded music will be allowed so long as the track entails the use of only one instrument.
- The decision of the judges will be final and binding.
STAGE PLAY
RULES -
- A team can consist of not less than 5 and not more than 15 members
- Not more than one team from each college
- The minimum duration of the play must be 15 minutes and the maximum duration can be 30 minutes. Participants will be marked negatively for exceeding time
- The time limit for performances is from empty stage to empty stage. The maximum time limit is inclusive of the curtain calls et al.
- Any special props are to be arranged for by the performing team. Only general props like table, chairs etc. will be provided.
- The play should be in either English or Hindi or both.
- Profanities should be avoided.
- The teams will be judged on the basis of their acting, script, team coordination and audience interaction.
- The decision of the judges will be final and binding.
STREET PLAY
RULES –
- The play must have a socially relevant issue as its theme.
- The minimum number of participants per team must be 6 and the maximum number is 10.
- The minimum time allotted per team is 8 minutes and the maximum time given is 16 minutes. Teams exceeding the maximum time limit of ten minutes bear the risk of negative marking.
- Teams will be judged on the basis of their acting, script, audience interaction as well as relevance to chosen social theme.
- Any props used must be arranged by the team itself.
- No microphones/speakers/background music shall be allowed.
- Profanities should be avoided.
- The play must be in English or Hindi or both.
- The decision of the judges will be final and binding.
SHORT-FILM MAKING COMPETITION
RULES–
- The competition is open to any independent or student film-maker(s) world-wide.
- The theme for the short film will be provided to the participants on 16th February, 2013 after 11 AM.
- The deadline for submission of the short movie will be on 17th February, 2013 at 8 PM.
- There is no cap on the number of members per team; however, physical presence of at least one member is compulsory at the fest ‘Outlawed’.
- The run-time of the movie must be 5 minutes or less.
- The final entry must be in .avi/.mp4 format.
- Films belonging to all genres will be accepted.
- The entries must be submitted by 8pm on the 2nd day of the fest.
- The decision of the judges will be final and indisputable.
- All of the aforementioned guidelines must be strictly adhered to and the participant bears a risk of disqualification in case of a violation of the rules.
SHIPWRECKED
There is a shipwreck and the ship only has 3 life jackets. Each passenger (the participant) needs to show why they are worthy of the life jacket.
RULES –
- Each participant is given a famous personality.
- Each participant is given 1-2 minutes to show why he/she is worthy of the life jacket.
- One should speak only in English.
- The participant cannot make any wrongful allegations against other participants. However, he/she can use other participants' arguments and criticise them.
- Profanities should be avoided.
- The decision of the judges must be final and binding.
FASHION SHOW
RULES–
- Each team must carry a pendrive with their required music.
- Each team will have 10 minutes to showcase their fashion show.
- Obscene or vulgar clothes are prohibited.
- There is no specific theme, however theme based shows are preferred.
- Makeup and hairstyling is the team's concern. We will not be providing any such services.
- Props can be used if it suits the theme
60 SECONDS TO FAME
RULES–
- A college may send multiple entries for this event. This is an open event which emphasizes on the creativity and talent of the participant.
- Each participant will be given 1 minute to showcase their talent.
- Any accompanying props or instruments should all be brought by the participants themselves.
- Pre-recorded music should be brought on a pen drive in the suitable format.
- Profanities should be avoided.
- The judging criteria will be announced at the start of the event
- The decision of the judges shall be final and binding.
POSTER MAKING
RULES –
- All entries must be on the given theme. Free interpretation of theme is allowed.
- The theme will be given at the time of registration.
- Each team can only consist of a single participant. However, colleges can send multiple participants for the event.
- All entries must be submitted on the sheets provided by Cultural committee only. Participants must bring their own drawing materials
- The event will be ‘all fest event’ i.e. Participants can take their topics at any time after 10.00 am on any day during the fest
- The deadline for submitting the entries is 5pm on the 3nd day of the fest. All entries must be submitted prior to the deadline.
- The participant’s name, college, telephone number and e-mail must be clearly mentioned on the drawing sheet. Any entry without this information will be automatically rejected.
- All contestants will be judged on their original style and artistic
- The decision of the judges will be final and no discussion on this issue will be entertained
FACE PAINTING
RULES –
- Each college must send a team of three participants: one as the model and the other two will paint.
- The theme will be provided at the beginning of the competition.
- Basic paints and brushes will be supplied to the participants. The participants must bring other things that they might require.
- Each team will be given two minutes to explain their interpretation of the theme.
- Teams will be judged on the basis of their interpretation of the theme, creativity and originality.
- The decision of the judges shall be final and irrevocable.
